Hawaii Travel: Lahaina Lodging

post time 23. June 2008 member admin

There are reasons to stay in Lahaina. The biggest reason is convenience. Outside of this notion there is no reason to stay in the expensive commercial properties in the town of Lahaina. Great rental condos, cottages, beach homes, and loft spaces are available throughout Lahaina and the entire island of Maui. Most come equipped with all of the comforts of home and do not require a large amount of money to enjoy Mauis easy living. It is possible, however, to spend more money on a rental, but you will find that this is accompanied by increased value for your dollar.

Lahaina Whale Tours
Lahaina is known for being a historic whaling town. The whaling industry is one of Lahainas greatest claims. This is reiterated in a whaling museum in the city as well as a shopping plaza aptly named Whalers Village. The whaling industry boom did not last very long, but it definitely left its imprint on the town of Lahaina. With a sprawling port that now docks many recreational boats; the legacy of whaling has definitely left its mark on the tiny town.

Though hunting whales is no longer permitted as whales become increasingly endangered, whales still come to the outskirts of Maui to mate and give birth during the winter months. They come to this part of the Pacific specifically seeking warm water for this practice. They return to cooler waters in the spring for continued feeding. This mating process is open for viewing and many boating tours allow a birds eye view of the mating whales.

Your lodging concierge may have information about tours designed to explain the significance of the whales behavior. You may also schedule your whale tour with your travel agent before you get to the island. Whale tour boats are designed to accommodate tourist views of the whales in their natural habitat. Boats equipped with cameras provide a perfect look at the whales mating and birthing practices. Due to the endangered status of whales, these tour boats must stay within one hundred yards of the whales. If the whale comes close to the boat then tourists are given an extra treat.

Hawaii Travel: Lahaina Management

Individual property owners renting properties on the island of Maui should not be discouraged by the sprawling resort industry. Single private property owners are able to rent to hungry tourists just as the larger property managers are. The trick is to get your property advertised. While large commercial properties have advertising departments behind them they all tend to offer the same thing. There will always be vacationers seeking an experience off the beaten path. This is your audience and targeting them could ensure year round occupancy of your rental property.

Commercial property management firms have access to all advertising avenues. This does not mean that private owners cannot make use of these same routes and make them work. The key is to check into low overhead options. Advertising on the internet is always a good idea. Thanks to innovative web applications, you can manage your property over the net while maintaining a web presence just like the big guys do. There is no doubt that the large commercial property owners have a lock on Maui tourist lodging, but this does not mean that private owners cant carve out their own niche in the market.

Mauis Property Managers
Mauis tourist economy is spurred by large resorts and commercial rental properties. Property management is big business on the island. Types of property managers range from large commercial property managers to small boutique managers. Both offer a variety of services and intend to keep your rental properties occupied at all times. Whatever your choice, when seeking a property management company for your property you will want them to reside on the island to make this typically expensive service worthwhile.

Property managers offer a variety of service. Their main job is to keep your property occupied. This required advertising in tourism trades and brochures. This also requires relationships with travel agents all over the world. Their job is to get tenants into your rental property. Island residence is necessary for good property management. This is necessary to include additional services such as maintenance, rent collection, tenant screening, and tenant accountability for items within the rental property.

Hawaii Travel: Maui Vacation Rentals

The island of Maui is small when one considers that the entire length of the island may be traveled over the course of one day. The island becomes figuratively bigger when one considers the many activities available in the various cities that line the coast of Maui. Most water activities can be experienced from any of the cities coast lines. You dont have to stay in the most expensive tourist locations to experience the greatness and beauty that Maui offers.

Kihei is a city along the southwest coast of Maui. The city spans the coastline for more than seven miles of white sand beaches all accessible to the public. Pronounced ki-hay this city is best known for its water activities and whale tours. Windsurfing lessons are a popular attraction in this city and are a reasonably priced adventure. Whale tours are an awesome spectacle when in season, which is during the winter months.

Kihei Canoeing and Kayaking
Canoeing in the City of Kihei is a very popular pastime. The Kihei Canoe Club has a prominent presence in the city of Kihei. Canoeing is actually the official sport of the state of Hawaii. The Kihei Canoe Club provides recreational and competitive canoeing opportunities for all ages. Recreational canoeing during the competitive canoeing off season is open to Maui residents and tourist alike. Canoeing allows for a fun exercise and puts you close to nature. Recreational canoeing often puts paddlers in touch with the seas inhabitants, including turtles, dolphins, and even whales.

Kihei also lays claim to a great route for kayaking. Even if you are just a beginner you can learn to kayak and take advantage of this great sport and adventurous outing. Kayak rentals are relatively cheap and may be rented in two seat or one seat models. Like canoeing, you will find yourself amongst the sea animals that inhabit these friendly waters. Dont be surprised if you encounter a manta ray or two.

Hawaii Travel: Maui Rentals

post time 20. June 2008 member admin

In truth you can go to any one of Hawaiis six islands and experience the legendary paradise that is so widely written about and reveled. In fact, you could easily go to all of the islands since their proximity lends itself to inner island travel. There is a reason; however, that Maui is one of the most popular islands of Hawaii. Lacking the city spoils of Big Island and somewhere between the small seclusion of close by Lanai, Maui possesses the spirit of Hawaii with friendliness, accessibility and most of the perks that you will find on other islands within Hawaii.

Maui Has It All
Maui has everything encompasses everything that is Hawaiian. Known to have the best weather of the islands because of its great location, Maui temperatures are typically mild. Eighty-five degrees is typical during the summer months and around 78 degrees is typical of the winter months. After all, Hawaii really only has two recognizable seasons. If you are interested in navigating Mauis highest peaks then you should be aware of temperature changes. Estimate that the temperature will drop a little over three degrees for each elevation of 1,000 feet. Dont forget your sunburn because the suns rays are even more penetrable at these heights despite the cooler temperature.

Maui offers much in the way of family activities. The whaling museum and the historic sugar plantation train ride are a couple of the educational family activities available. Many visitors to Maui are not aware that Maui houses a stimulating visual arts center as well. The Hui NoEau Visual Arts Center has year round artist exhibits. Tourists are welcome to participate in the centers tour. The centers programs typically last for four to six weeks and may not be as accessible for those just visiting the island.

Maui is known for its water sports. However, everyone is not sea friendly. The idea of swimming and paddling close to sea animals is sometimes not enticing to small children or the squeamish. It is for this reason that Maui also houses the Maui Ocean Center. An acrylic tunnel encases visitors as they travel through a massive ocean replica. The tank is filled with fish, sharks, turtles, manta rays, and even whales during their mating and birthing season.

Hawaii Travel: South Maui

post time 19. June 2008 member admin

The Hawaiian Island of Maui is divided into two sections, based on its geographical features. South Maui is the name of the larger, southeastern part of the island, whereas West Maui is the name of the small, northwestern part of the island. A large valley divides the two parts of the island and cuts from the town of Kihei on Maalaea Bay northeast to the town of Kahului on Kahului Bay.

Much to Do on South Maui
South Maui is home to Haleakala State Park and the dormant volcano known as Haleakala Crater. There are sub-alpine regions and rainforests on South Maui, as well as a large number of beaches. The majority of these beaches are on the western coast of South Maui, along a strip of beaches called the Kihei Coast. The white-sand beaches that make up the Kihei Coast stretch from the end of Maalaea Beach in the north to Kewakapu Beach Park in the south.

Theres a lot that will appeal to vacationers on South Maui. Aside from hiking in the national parks and lounging on the beautiful beaches, there are a number of other activities a person could enjoy. Snorkeling, scuba diving and windsurfing are popular activities along the Kihei Coast. Its possible to go whale watching in Maalaea Bay during the winter when humpback whales from Alaska come south in search of warmer waters.

There are dozens of restaurants to be enjoyed on South Maui, and the nightlife is quite good. With the markets, shops bazaars and other stores along the Kihei Coast on South Maui, there are a lot of souvenirs of your trip that can be found. Finding a place to stay is easy as well, with the dozens of available hotels, B&Bs and rental units that can be found on South Maui.
